LONDON (Reuters) - Prime Minister Boris Johnson set out plans on Tuesday to try to spur Britain's economy, promising to fast-track 5 billion pounds ($6.15 billion) of infrastructure investment and to "build, build, build" out of the coronavirus crisis.
In a speech, Johnson set out a vision where the government could cut through red tape to speed up construction and infrastructure projects to kickstart the economy and to "level up" Britain, where wealth and opportunity is unevenly spread.
Here are some of the areas where Johnson outlined his plans. Several have been announced previously but are being brought online more quickly.
Johnson unveiled new planning rules on Tuesday to boost the number of homes and allow commercial premises to be repurposed more easily.
Johnson pledged 1.5 billion pounds this year for hospital maintenance, eradicating mental health dormitories, enabling hospital building and improving Accident and Emergency capacity.
ROADS AND RAIL
Johnson pledged 100 million pounds this year for 29 projects in the road network, from bridge repairs in Sandwell to boosting the quality of the A15 in the Humber region. Plus 10 million pounds for development work to unblock the Manchester rail bottleneck, which will begin this year.
Johnson pledged more than 1 billion pounds to fund the first 50 projects of a new, 10-year school rebuilding programme, starting from 2020-21. These projects will be confirmed in the Autumn, and construction on the first sites will begin from September 2021.
He also announced 560 million pounds and 200 million pounds for repairs and upgrades to schools and further education colleges respectively this year.
"SHOVEL READY" PROJECTS
He pledged 900 million pounds for a range of "shovel ready" local growth projects in England over the course of this year and next, as well as 96 million pounds to accelerate investment in town centres and high streets through the Towns Fund this year. This will provide all 101 towns selected for town deals with between 500,000 and 1 million pounds to spend on projects such as improvements to parks, high streets, and transport
Johnson also recommitted to reforest Britain by planting over 75,000 acres of trees every year by 2025.
He pledged 40 million pounds to boost local conservation projects and create 3,000 jobs, including new Conservation Rangers, and safeguard 2,000 – training young people and others in the community.
In his speech, he also said Britain should aim at producing the world's first zero emission long-haul jet plane.

Mady Gosselin Takes To Instagram Following Wisdom Tooth Removal
Mady Gosselin shared a photo of herself shortly after getting her wisdom teeth removed.
Mady Gosselin, one of the two twin daughters of Kate and Jon Gosselin, took to Instagram on Sunday, July 5 to share a real and unfiltered photo of herself following surgery to remove her wisdom teeth. Mady, who is now 19-years-old, assured followers that she was okay by flashing a peace sign post surgery.
Mady laid back upon pillows as she recuperated from her wisdom teeth removal. She wore her glasses perched on the top of her head and her dark brown hair down naturally, some strands falling in her face. Mady’s face appeared swollen, a bit of blood visible on her lip and the corner of her mouth. She held her mouth open, looking understandably in pain and uncomfortable following the procedure.
In order to aid with the pain, Mady had what appeared to be a bag of frozen vegetables pressed to one side of her face with another ice pack propped up against the other cheek.
In her caption, Mady noted that she felt okay and cracked a joke about her tooth removal. The post racked up over 8,000 likes in less than a day. She boasts a total of 115,000 followers on the account, which she stared in October of 2018 following her 18th birthday.View this post on Instagram

Many of her fans and followers took to the comments section to wish her a swift recovery as well as to share their own stories about having their wisdom teeth removed. Others offered their own tips and tricks for dealing with the pain during the recovery process.
“Ugh I’m 43 and still have my wisdom teeth. I dread the day the dentist tells me they have to go. Feel better!” one social media user remarked.
“Feel better soon! Love the way you referred to them as astute teeth-that is brilliant!” another person remarked.
“Lots of ice packs and medication. If this is day one, just wait till tomorrow, my face ballooned so bad. Here’s to a speedy recovery,” one of her followers told her.
“Praying for you. You are very brave. I need to get mine pulled but am so scared!” another person wrote.
As The Inquisitr previously reported, Mady is not on speaking terms with her father Jon, nor are the majority of her siblings. However, two of the sextuplets, Collin and Hannah, live with Jon and his girlfriend Colleen Conrad full time. Mady and her twin sister Cara remain with their mother Kate when they are not in college, as do the remaining sextuplet children.
