The American attacker got Chelsea off to a flying start start by firing them ahead with just five minutes on the clock.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled from the spot just before half time.
But any hopes Pulisic had of being the Cup hero were ended within seconds of the restart.
He raced clear on goal almost instantly following the break but grimaced in agony as he went to pull the trigger.
The ex-Dortmund ace's weak effort rolled wide of the target as he crumpled to the floor before he was eventually helped off after hurting his hamstring.
