3 Dallas Cowboys that need to step up in 2020

Next1 of 3Prev postUse your ← → (arrows) to browseThe Cowboys disappointed in 2019, and if they want to be a contender in 2020, these three players need to step up.

The Dallas Cowboys had a lot of hype heading into the 2019 season, and for good reason. Most of their offense was returning, including Amari Cooper, whom they had acquired during the 2018 season in a trade with the Raiders, and Jason Witten came out of retirement to rejoin the ‘Boys.

What followed was a mediocre season that saw the Cowboys go 8-8 and barely miss out on the incredibly winnable NFC East title. It had to have been a frustrating finish for Cowboys fans, and now with Dak Prescott on the franchise tag and his future in Big D unclear, it’s Super Bowl or bust for the Cowboys in 2020.

These three Cowboys need to have the season of their lives this year.

3. Blake Jarwin

I mentioned earlier how Jason Witten came out of retirement to return to the Cowboys offense in 2019. That made it difficult for Blake Jarwin, a former undrafted talent out of Oklahoma State (who are also the Cowboys, oddly enough), to really show what he could do.

It was his third year with Dallas but his best year, as he hauled in 31 catches for 365 yards and three touchdowns. Now, Jarwin will enter the 2020 season as the starting tight end for the Cowboys, and the opportunities will be bigger and brighter for the former Oklahoma State product.

Dallas has an explosive offense, with Prescott as the quarterback throwing to the likes of Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and rookie CeeDee Lamb, along with Ezekiel Elliott out of the backfield, but Jarwin still needs to step it up and be that big target tight end in the red zone.

If Jarwin can take advantage when Cooper and the others are getting double-teamed, he could have a really good season in Big D.
