BOSTON (AP) — For the second time in a decade, a New Hampshire woman has a new face. Carmen Blandin Tarleton, whose face was disfigured in an attack by her ex-husband, became the first American and only the second person globally to undergo the procedure after her first transplant began to fail six years after the operation. The transplant from an anonymous donor took place at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in July. The 52-year-old former nurse is expected to resume her normal routine, which all but ended when the first transplant failed a year ago. “I’m elated,” Tarleton told The Associated Press, in an exclusive telephone interview from her home in Manchester. She is still healing from the operation...
LOUDON, N.H. – With about 70 laps to go in his back-and-forth battle against Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin radioed in to his team: “This is awesome racing.” Imagine how Keselowski felt. Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images The 2012 Cup champion took the checkered flag at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, beating Hamlin by 1.647 seconds after trading the lead with him for most of the 301-lap race. The two swapped stage wins and held the lead a combined 18 times before Keselowski claimed his third victory since the sport returned from the pandemic shutdown, along with the now-traditional prize of a 18-pound, live lobster. Anybody who is tired of watching Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin dominate NASCAR Cup Series races in 2020 might be in for disappointment during Sunday’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the track’s one and only event on the NASCAR schedule. Harvick, the points leader and the winner of four races this season, has won the last two NASCAR Cup Series races at New Hampshire. He earned the victory in this race last year when he edged Hamlin on the final corner of the Magic Mile. Hamlin, who has won a series-high five Cup races in 2020, statistically is the best driver at the flat, one-mile oval in Loudon, N.H., but Harvick was considered the favorite to win Sunday’s race. So there’s a decent...

Picking a winner based on the odds for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire Speedway (3 p.m. ET, NBCSN) is a challenge because the “Magic Mile” is such a unique track. The 1.058-mile oval in Loudon, N.H., is so flat with 2- to 7-degree variable banking in the corners that it basically drives like a short track and eats up tires. The relatively slow nature of the track is why Sunday’s race is only 301 laps and 318.46 miles.
