Joel Embiid:

A near-five-month pause to play didn’t stop the 76ers’ problems away from home. In the team’s first game since the season was suspended on March 11, the 76ers — who were 29-2 at home and 10-24 on the road during the season — dropped a 127-121 decision to the Pacers on Saturday, who were playing without All-Star Domantas Sabonis. A potentially more troubling sight for Philadelphia came after the first quarter, when the 76ers’ Joel Embiid and Shake Milton got into a heated argument on the sideline, with the latter being held back by teammates. After the loss, Embiid — the less heated of the two involved — described the incident as inconsequential. “It’s basketball,” he said. “As players,...
NBA : LeBron James couldn’t avoid losing the Lakers last night in the NBA. The same fate was reserved for Joel Embiid with Philadelphia despite an extraordinary performance. Two days after their victorious derby against the Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers bit the dust against defending champion Toronto (107-92). Despite a double-double (20 points-10 rebounds), His Majesty LeBron James could not do anything to counter the form of the Canadians. The palm goes to Kyle Lowry, credited with 33 points and 14 rebounds. He was perfectly supported by Fred Van Vleet, also finished in double-double: 13 points and 11 assists. This hitch has very little impact on the franchise of the City of Angels, firmly anchored at the...

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — T.J. Warren scored a career-high 53 points, Victor Oladipo added 15 after reversing course on opting out of the NBA restart and the Indiana Pacers beat the Philadelphia 76ers 127-121 on Saturday night. A sixth-year player acquired from Phoenix in an offseason trade, Warren was 20 of 29 from the field and 9 of 12 from 3-point range in his first game with at least 50 points. The Pacers (40-26) took control of the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference by breaking a tie with the 76ers and winning the season series. Both teams have clinched playoff spots. It took one quarter for the 76ers’ wild side to emerge in their first game at the Orlando bubble complex. As Philadelphia players walked off the floor after the opening 12 minutes against the Pacers, Joel Embiid and Shake Milton appeared to get into a significant squabble. It looked as if Embiid said a magic word or phrase to set Milton off — the conversation went from civil to almost physical in about a second. Rookie Matisse Thybulle held Milton back from making a run at Embiid. Undoubtedly talented, the 76ers have made things difficult for themselves over the past two seasons with the unpredictable behavior of Embiid, stubbornness of Ben Simmons and occasional antagonism of their own fans....

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Some cool, new technology is bringing NBA fans into the stands down in Orlando–not in person, but virtually. Each home team can select about 300 fans from all over the world, to log-in, and cheer for their team. Their images will be projected onto large screens set up in the stands. It’s all in real-time, so fans can react naturally to the plays. It’s unclear how the Sixers will select their virtual fans for each game. But Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons want to take it a step further. They said they’d actually like to hear some virtual boos, to make them feel right at home.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)- The NBA season is just about ready to resume. The Sixers will play their first game of the restart on Saturday, August 1 against the Indiana Pacers in Orlando. While things during the regular season weren’t exactly going the Sixers’ way, there has been a renewed sense of optimism surrounding the team since the preparation began for the restart. For one, guard/forward Ben Simmons is healthy. Center Joel Embiid also reported being in great condition upon entering the bubble. And, Sixers coach Brett Brown has been tinkering with the lineup, moving Simmons to the power forward spot and inserting Shake Milton into the point guard role in the starting five. Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown played down concerns after Joel Embiid sat out the team’s scrimmage because of a calf problem. Embiid missed Sunday’s 102-97 loss to the Thunder as the 76ers stepped up preparations for their NBA return against the Pacers outside Orlando, Fla., on Aug. 1. The three-time All-Star posted 10 points, six rebounds and an assist in just under 13 minutes of Friday’s 90-83 victory over the Grizzlies at Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex. But the 76ers opted not to take any risks after Embiid, whose fitness has often been questioned, began feeling calf tightness during the game. “Not really,” Brown replied when asked if there is any frustration about Embiid missing game time with injury. “It’s...

PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — The Philadelphia 76ers are just over a week away from restarting their season in Orlando. Joel Embiid “hated the idea” of returning to play at Walt Disney World. “All I want is to stay healthy, stay safe, keep the people around me safe,” the Philadelphia 76ers’ All-Star said. “I want to be sure that I can live for a long time and not have any sort of, I don’t know, consequences for the future.” Embiid even dressed the part worthy of his fear factor, arriving for Philly’s flight to Florida in what appeared to be a full hazmat suit. Life inside the NBA bubble seems to be exciting for the players. While there might be several restrictions in place, the league has organized the restart in a grand manner. Players have been enjoying themselves in the first week or so that they’ve been there. Lakers star Dwight Howard started an IG live from his hotel in which he expressed a lot of his thoughts.  Howard is certainly an entertaining personality and an absolute monster when he comes off the bench to take control on the court. The 34-year-old explained a lot to his fans on his Instagram session, and notably poked fun at Joel Embiid.  Howard revealed how he is not a fan of Embiid’s on-court antics. As per...

The Golden State Warriors may have suffered a huge disappointment in the 2019-20 NBA season, but they aren’t expected to rot at the bottom of the league for long. Aside from making sure that their core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green will be in perfect shape before the start of the 2020-21 NBA season, rumors are circulating that the Warriors will be trading for their fourth superstar in the 2020 NBA offseason. One of the big names that the Warriors could target on the trade market this fall is All-Star center Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers. According to Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Bay Area, Embiid could be the Warriors’ Plan B if reigning MVP and...

The Philadelphia 76ers may have gone through plenty of ups and downs this year, but no matter what the outcome of the 2019-20 NBA season will be, they are still aren’t expected to break the young superstar duo of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Instead of immediately giving up on Embiid and Simmons, the Sixers are expected to be aggressive on the market, searching for quality players that complement their franchise cornerstones.
