Knott’s Berry Farm last week felt more like a national park than a theme park. Reopening for a Knott’s-designed food event dubbed Taste of Calico, the park‘s famed ghost town was clear for roaming on an early Friday afternoon. And though there was an air of trepidation among the guests seeking boysenberry-fueled delectables, maintaining at least 10 or 15 feet distance from another human was relatively easy — just the way this pandemic-wary mind likes it. Western characters traversed the second story of the ghost town’s frontier buildings, keeping alive from a distance the theme park’s pre-pandemic tomfoolery — including the shock and concern expressed at the very sight of any piece of modern technology held by a guest....
SALISBURY (CBS) — In summers past the dings, bells, and flashing lights of Joe’s Playland would also be accompanied by the sounds of laughing children. This year, the hundred-year-old arcade in Salisbury still has not opened amid the pandemic. “I mean, financially it’s devastating. This is our summer season and we make 70% of our revenue in the summer,” co-owner Dan Abdulla said. Brothers and co-owners Dan and Fred Abdulla spent roughly $30,000 on COVID-19 safety measures in preparation for reopening in Phase 3. “We bought plexiglass dividers that separate games that are really close to each other,” Fred said, “We have a sanitizing gun that has hospital-grade chemicals in it.” Then, just days before their reopening, Governor Charlie Baker...

LOS ANGELES – After four months of closing its doors due to pandemic concerns, Disneyland parks in Anaheim have decided to postpone the planned reopening date for July 17. "Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government...
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg will not reopen next week when Virginia further eases restrictions on businesses and public gatherings put in place earlier this year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The amusement parks say reopening is not economically feasible if only 1,000 people can be allowed in at a time, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Wednesday. Gov. Ralph Northam's plan for the state's Phase 3 of reopening allows entertainment venues to open at 50% capacity or a maximum of 1,000 people. “Although we respect the decisions of our state officials, the restriction of limiting our park to just 1,000 guests does not reflect the large volume of space available to accommodate recommended social...
