Hooray all! Welcome to the 2020 fantasy football season! Hopefully. While you have been socially distanced from the Fantasy Madman, we’ve been preparing for what is certain to be the strangest and most unpredictable football season we’ve ever seen. And, inevitably, fantasy strategy has to change to adapt to this new reality. The rules are fairly simple, and some are going to be widely touted by the fantasy community. There are times to be contrarian, but this is not one of them. In fact, you can separate yourself by sticking steadfast to these rules, and avoid the temptation of audibling away from the game plan. Rule 1: Draft players on teams whose offense hasn’t undergone significant changes. If a team...

Football : The Premier League clubs decided by a majority on Thursday: the five-change rule put in place due to the context linked to Covid-19 will not be extended for the 2020-2021 season. It came very close, but the majority decided so this Thursday. Asked to speak and vote on whether or not to maintain the rule allowing each team to make five changes instead of the usual three per game, the Premier League clubs preferred to return to the original regulations. According to the BBC, eleven clubs voted against, while the other nine were in favor. The elite of English football thus stands out from Ligue 1, which endorsed this famous rule of five changes a few...

(Photo by Justin Casterline/Getty Images) Which NFL teams in 2020 are the most likely to finish with an 8-8 record? A stigma accompanies a win-loss record of 8-8. It’s such a record that is typically the butt of jokes and inspires eye-rolls from fans. To an extent, that is fair. The record is akin to a basic brown paper bag utilized as the topper ornament to a Christmas tree. It’s not morally problematic, but it simply has no sizzle. The stomach-churning connotation to “8-8” arises when the beholder...

It’s been a rough couple of years for Green Bay Packers and their supporters. Aaron Rodgers led his team to the NFC Championship game last year. However, he failed to lead his team to the Super Bowl game as they fell to a 37-20 loss at the hands of Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers. One of the major criticism directed at the Packers was their lack of depth in the wideout department. The Packers were expected to strengthen in that regard this offseason. They were rumored to have been in contact with a number of rookie wide receivers that appeared in the 2020 NFL draft. However, the Mark Murphy-led organization opted to trade up and bring in rookie quarterback –...

Milwaukee was handed a curveball over the weekend when their four-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals was postponed, but they will look to get things brewing Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox at Miller Park. The White Sox have overcome some adversity themselves, winning five straight entering Tuesday after a 1-4 start, thanks in large part to a pitching staff that has given up more than four runs just once in the past seven games. Veteran Dallas Keuchel should lend some length to a bullpen that had to get 21 outs in the first game of the series, as he has gone five or more innings in 20 of his 21 starts since the beginning of the 2019 season....
Baker Mayfield endured a mixed-bag of results over his first two seasons with Cleveland Browns. The former Oklahoma Sooners man made his NFL debut in the 2018 season. He threw for 3,725 yards and completed 27 passing TDs in his rookie season with a decent pass completion rate of 63.8. He was expected to build on that performance heading into the 2019 season last year. However, things did not go as planned for the former Heisman Trophy winner. In his Sophomore season, Mayfield threw for 3,500+ yards and posted 22 passing TDs. However, his pass completion rate dropped to 59.4 having registered 21 interceptions in 2019 as the Browns ended the season with a 6-10 record. The 2020 season is...

OAKLAND (AP) — Walkoff grand slams are becoming such old hat for the Oakland Athletics this season that they have learned to celebrate in a more socially distant manner. The young two-way player had a sky-high ERA near 37 through two starts this season, and an injury might’ve contributed to that ineffectiveness. Per the Angels, Ohtani has been diagnosed with a grade 1-2 strain of the flexor pronator mass. He can be re-evaluated in six weeks, but it’s more than likely that Ohtani won’t pitch again this season. The good news, however, is that his timetable to return as a designated hitter is just day-to-day. Update on Shohei Ohtani: pic.twitter.com/hZ8RJJzEdN —...
New York Yankees: Luis Cessa is close to game-ready and could return this week By: Andres Chavez August 3, 2020 PrevPreviousThe New York Yankees have enough evidence to name a consistent left fielder and it’s not Brett Gardner ShareTweet0 SharesThe New York Yankees suffered a recent loss to their bullpen corps: Tommy Kahnle, one of the best and most reliable relievers on the team, will be sidelined for a long time following an elbow injury. That’s unfortunate, no doubt about it, but if there is a team in the major leagues that can absorb the blow of a reliever getting hurt, that team is the Yankees. Lately, right-hander reliever Nick Nelson stole the...

If things break right, Buffalo has what it takes to win a Super Bowl title. The truth is Sean McDermott’s team should have higher expectations. There are plenty of good reasons to believe Buffalo has what it takes to become Super Bowl champions this season. Kaapo Kakko played the most five-on-five minutes of any Rangers forward in Saturday’s 3-2, Game 1 defeat to the Hurricanes, his 12:51 clocking in at 65 seconds more than Artemi Panarin. But here’s the thing: Despite the fact that Kakko was perhaps the team’s most consistently effective and assertive forward, the Finn did not get on the ice again after finishing his final shift with 3:29 remaining in the third period. A Tony DeAngelo penalty at 16:58 surely was a factor, but the Blueshirts played with an extra attacker after pulling Henrik Lundqvist with 50 seconds remaining and down by a goal, and still Kakko did not get the call. California’s first major wildfire of the year grew to more than 20,000 acres overnight after destroying one home, forcing thousands more to be evacuated and sending up a plume of smoke so massive that it generated its own winds, authorities said. The fire had burned at least 20,516 acres and was 0% contained as of 6 a.m. Sunday. While several college football conferences released plans this week that would see them play the season, in some form, the Big Ten is reportedly still mulling canceling the fall altogether. Pat Forde of SI.com reported Thursday on Twitter that his sources told him the conference has advised its member schools there may not be a 2020 season. Forde added those member schools could be getting more guidance next week. That’s when the Big Ten is said to be telling teams whether or not their training camps will begin on time. Even when a decision is made on camps, the insider said that doesn’t mean an on-time start there guarantees a fall season is on the horizon. Testing protocols and other...

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Thursday identified the first two cases of human West Nile virus infection of the 2020 season. MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Many of us have noticed this summer feels even hotter and buggier than usual. We’re seeing more mosquitoes this year, which is connected to the latest weather trends. The culprit is warm and humid air: temperatures between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, with a relative humidity of 42% or more. Those are called “mosquito days” and WCCO’s partners at Climate Central have found that across the U.S., mosquito days are increasing in 64% of the cities they looked at. Here in the Twin Cities in the 1980s, we had 114 days where mosquitoes were possible. Now in the 2010s, mosquitoes are possible 120 days per year, an increase in six days annually. But in Duluth, it’s even worse. There...
